Chapter 5

All things considered, I do a really good job at avoiding Julie… for exactly half a day.

I’ve had the entire weekend to think about her. I didn’t manage to get a single thing done with how obsessed I was with touching myself. It was like puberty all over again, I couldn’t keep my hands from between my legs.

Now that I’m back at the office, it’s awful knowing the woman that’s unwittingly plagued my every waking and unconscious moment for the past 48 hours is within reach.

I spend the morning attempting to focus on my work. I answer emails and phone calls and send people files as requested. None of it helps to keep my mind from wandering.

Not seeing Julie around the office really helped with my goal of staying focused on the tasks at hand. However, the minute I see her walking back from a meeting— heels clicking on the floors, hips swaying, and hair bouncing with every step— that resolve goes right out the window.

It’s close enough to lunch that I can justify logging out of my computer and pushing away from my desk. I’m walking toward her office before I can think twice.

My knuckles knock softly on her door but she calls out for me to enter anyway. Stepping into her office, I’m immediately hit with the memories of what happened here on Friday. My stomach clenches as a burst of heat settles low in it.

“Miss Emma, to what do I owe this pleasure,” Julie says, a smirk spreading across her lips.

I slide the door shut behind me and make my way over to her desk. “I was wondering if I could ask you something.”

Julie gestures for me to continue. “I’ve been thinking about Friday,” I say taking a slow breath so I can find the courage to continue. “It’s just… I’m not sure I really understood the point of what you wanted me to learn.”

Julie’s quiet, her eyes moving over my body up and down. She bites her lower lip, holding back a smile before she meets my eyes once more. “Is that so?”

The older woman pushes her chair back a bit. It’s not much and she doesn’t make to stand but she lounges completely relaxed while she stares me down.

“Y-yes,” I say quickly, voice too high. “I’m not entirely convinced that… that is worthwhile for me to look into.”

“So you came to me for another bit of instruction?” She tilts her head to the side.

I nod my head, willing the flush building on my cheeks to go down. “I wanted to know if you could convince me further.” After a weekend of thinking about Julie nonstop, this was the best I could come up with. I can’t imagine just going up to Julie and declaring my intentions.

“If that’s the case,” Julie hums. “You’re in luck. I was hoping you would reach out to me about that sometime this week. I didn’t expect it to be this soon, though.”

I clear my throat and clasp my hands in front of me.
